Antiques Road Trip star jumps for joy over £ 170 dead flower auction winnings

Antiques Road Trip rivals Philip Serrell and Izzie Balmer faced off in the finals when a surprising item yielded a huge profit.

On Friday’s episode (June 11) of the BBC One show, Izzie found herself looking at a bouquet of dead flowers in the window of the Pilgrims Antiques Center in Gainsborough.

Lifting the flowers, which are contained in an elaborate clasp, she explained, “Now you might be wondering: what is this hideous thing? “

“What it is is a Victorian bouquet holder. What’s really love about it is you still have the original bouquet.”

Although the dried flowers are over 100 years old, they have stored well and retained their shape and color.

Izzie added, “You have this little finger chain so you can tie it to your finger and hold it without worrying about dropping it as you walk down the aisle.”

The original bridal item is so rare that Izzie confessed she had never seen one before, but decided to take a risk and buy it for £ 60, haggling with the store owner to leave from £ 75.

At the time of the auction, a competitor Philip called the holder of the bouquet “dead flowers”.

“Original flowers!” Izzie fired back as the auction began.

She was soon jumping with excitement and low as a bidding war erupted, with people seemingly desperate to own the unique bridal item.

“For the dead flowers,” Philip said in disgust as offers exceeded £ 90.

The hammer fell to £ 175, earning a triumphant Izzie £ 105 and leaving a disgruntled Philip to complain that she had just sold ‘hedge trimmings’.

Izzie said: “I’m excited now, I didn’t think I had a chance.”

It comes after Philip Serrell screamed when his attempt to auction off a “rare” item backfired dramatically – though rival Izzie found it amusing.
